Who is James Bacon, town justice in New Paltz?
James Bacon has been a town justice in New Paltz since 2008. A graduate of the City University of New York School of Law, Bacon has been a member of the New York bar since 1992.
In 2022, Bacon was appointed to a task force to modernize the judiciary, working on a subcommittee that determined that lay justices (those who are not attorneys) are largely just as competent and effective as their attorney colleagues.
Justice Bacon will be up for reelection in 2027.
